The Bible, and the Fasting principle

Jesus himself spent forty days fasting after fourty days and nights without food.

THE FASTING PRINCIPLE IN THE BIBLE BY KHALEEL-NURANI-JUNAID

The Bible, and the Fasting principleMuslim must refrain from all food , alcohol, and items that break Fast in the Holy Month of Ramadan from dawn to sunset. Holy Qur’an states that even in the previous culture, Fasting was obligatory:

O, you Believers! Fasting is made compulsory upon you as it was made compulsory upon those before you, so that you can become pious. (Al-Baqara Sura 183)

From the ancient testament of Bible verses
Abraham, Joshua, Isaac, David, Solomon, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah John, Jesus did the Fast in a particular way, as all the prophets and holy men, as three, seven, twenty-one, thirty, fourty days.

Jehoshaphat was afraid, and prayed for guidance to the LORD. Then he issued orders to conduct a fast across the country.(2 Chronicles 20:3)

Thus the Ahava Canal, I gave orders for all of us to fast and humble ourselves before our Father, and to ask Him to lead us on our journey, and to protect us and our children and all our belongings.

I sat down, and wept, when I heard all this. I mourned for many days, and did not sleep.
I told God,(Nehemiah 1:4)

The whole wall was completed on the twenty-fifth day of the month of Elul after fifty-two days of work (Nehemiah 6:15)

The Nineveh people believed a message from God. So they agreed that everyone would fast, and all the people put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least, to show that they had repented (Jonah 3:5).

God saw what they were doing; He saw that they had abandoned their sinful actions. And he was changing his mind and not punishing them like he had said he would. (John 3:10)

From the Press
Jesus himself spent forty days fasting: Jesus was starving after having gone fourty days and nights without food. (Matthew 4:2)

Throughout the Bible we will see the fasting lessons, as in Islam:
“And while you’re fasting, don’t put on a sad face like the hypocrites do. They ‘re neglecting their appearance because everybody will see they’re fasting. I guarantee you they’ve already been compensated in full.”

When you go without food, wash your face, and comb your hair, so that others do not know that you are fasting — only your Father, who is unseen, will know; and your Father, who sees what you do in secret, will reward you (Matthew 6:16-18).

In the Church at Antioch, there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon (called the Black), Lucius (from Cyrene), Manaen (who had been brought up with Governor Herod), and Saul.

While serving the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said to them, “Set apart Barnabas and Saul for me, to do the job that I have called them to.”

They fasted and prayed, laid hands on them, and sent them away (Acts 13:1-3)
