The Chishty Foundation launched a “Clean and Green Initiative” working to inspire, educate and empower the community of Ajmer to become the clean and green ambassadors of Rajasthan.
Chishty Foundation provided a platform for everyone in Ajmer to unite hands and hearts in service to the Divine’s creation – Humanity, Nature, Community, Society and all sentient life.
For us to achieve this we need to come together and take responsibility for the awareness that the protecting the earth’s diversity and beauty is for each of us our sacred trust, given to us by God. Allah is not just INSIDE the Mosque. Allah is everywhere.
The cleanliness and stewardship of Dargah Ajmer Sharif, of the local community in Ajmer and of our common Earthly home, is our health, it is our wealth.
A clean and eco-friendly city, Dargah and surrounding areas, is not just an important need, it is a critically imperative need for all of our community, livelihoods, businesses, academics, elders, children and future generations, and we need to encourage everyone in our community to contribute their little bit, in their own way.
Nature is part of every Indian’s DNA. It has always been part of our culture to work with nature and to care for it. It is part of our civilization to protect nature, and part of our physical and spiritual responsibility to care for the Creations, for future generations to come. Earth is a living being, and as Indians, we have always had reverence, care and stewardship for the Divine within Nature.
Many of us have unfortunately lost that reverence, that relationship, and how closely we respect the Divine in Nature is exemplified in the ways we keep to cleanliness, to reverence for Nature, and to how we choose to conserve energy and the Earths resources. We are Nature and Nature is us.
This Clean and Green Initiative is a step to restoring our living relationship with Nature. Nature protects those who protect her, and caring for our community, for each other, and our environment is essential to our own health and wellbeing too.
Chishty Foundation is creating a 3 tier Clean and Green Initiative which empowers us all in Ajmer to protect and care for each other, and for our surroundings:
• Clean and Green Initiative at Dargah Ajmer Sharif
• A Community and Interfaith Clean and Green Partnership Initiative cleaning and greening Ajmer city, and surrounding lakes and mountains
• Education Initiatives in our local schools and universities – Our aim is lasting community impact and behavior change though Spiritual Ecology workshops and the collaborative training and developing of Interfaith values-based Clean and Green ambassadors.

“Abu Malik Al-Ashari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) said: “Cleanliness is half the faith.” – Muslim”
When we go to Dargah Ajmer Sharif, we are walking where Khawaja Gharib Nawaz (ra) walked: on the same soil, surrounded by the same mountains and water and natural beauty. This is a very sacred place, and site, where for the last 8 centuries, pilgrims have come from all over the world every day in prayer and devotion.
The beautiful Khadim Mohalla that surrounds Dargah Sharif Khawaja Saheb was created by Allah and blessed by the blessed presence of Hazrat Khawaja Ghairb Nawaz (ra). As a practicing Muslim cleanliness is very important.
Our faith invites us to:
1. Respect and care for Allah’s creation
2. Honor the unity of Allah’s creation(Tawhid)
3. Take responsibility for Khilafa (Stewardship/Custodian) of the Environment
4. Take (Akhirah)accountability for preserving the earth
