J&K: “Faith Towards Brotherhood & Harmony” Conference in Ganderbal Highlights Religion as a Resource of Peace and Humanity

Srinagar, April 15:

A civil society developmental organization, “Voice For Peace & Justice” working on the revival of Sufism in Kashmir and seeking to eradicate the increasing social evils and vices from the society, organized a day-long Na’at and Seerat Conference.

Leading religious scholars of Jammu & Kashmir and Students from different educational institutions took part in this soulful and spiritually rejuvenating event.

Mufti Bilal Kumar, Mufti Muneer, Molvi Mudasir, Molvi Ghulam Ahmad, Molvi Sarfaraz Ahmad, Molana Gowhar Qadri, Prof Manzoor Ahmad impressed upon the participants to study Islam and go through the teachings of Quran for real understanding. The speakers said that the current scenario of crime rate and social evils in Kashmir is increasing due to lack of real understanding of Islam. They said we muslims should follow the path of Islam the same way we have been taught by Allah via Quraan and his beloved messenger, Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) via his acts and deeds.

Speakers expressed grief and sorrow over the fact that Islam and muslim names have been exploited by the redical forces. They said its our cumulative responsibility to come forward and revive the teachings of our Sufi Saints who arrived to spread the message of peace and communal harmony across the world.

‘The solution to all our problems depends solely on sincerely following the teachings of the Sufi Saints of the Valley and that is how we can lead the world in moral leadership’, speakers emphasised. Whereas Naat and Seerat Conference was held as a capacity building competition in boys and girls categories among the students of different institutions. Cash Prizes and mementos were awarded to the first 3 positions in each category whereas participation certificates were distributed among all the participants.

Riyaz Ahmad Shah, Social Activist and a renowned industrialist speaking on occasion said, the sufi saints who travelled miles, contributed much for peace and taught us to respect the religions equally, we must follow their teachings and fight against radicalism. Fringe elements are trying to radicalize islam we must raise our voices against them. He added.

Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Tantary, in his address, said the main motto of organizing the kind of conferences is to harbor the unity among different ideologies. Our ideological perspectives may be different but at the end we must be united to work for the larger interests of Kashmir and Nation.

Farooq Ahmad Dar Ganderbali, President Voice for Peace and Justice while speaking on the occasion said, ” He is thankful to all participants for attending the conference as such kind of conferences teach us the way of life. Our religion advocates communal Harmony, brotherhood but unfortunately some radical elements and cross border strategies ruined these things by vowing venom on social media platforms and other mediums. Kashmiri Pandits, Sikhs and Muslims were used to celebrate all festivals together but volatile situation sponsored from across the border disturbed everything. Nowadays things are reviving and we must support for the revival of communal harmony, brotherhood and maintenance of peace in Kashmir.” He added

More than 200 invitees, including religious scholars, students, Ullama, Students of Kashmir and Central universities, Boys and Girls of Bharat Courts and Guides, President JKYDF Shaheryar Majeed ,Sheikh Mohammad Shafi, Dr Mohammad Amin, Dar, Dr Gh Mohd Lone, Social Activist Abdul Rashid Mir and Molvi Mohd Amin preacher were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
