Centre for Culture, Media & Governance: Jamias contribution to the domain of media

Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) applauded Mr. Saeed Naqvis contribution to the field of print and electronic journalism. Addressing the audience at the screening event of a documentary film on the life of Mr. Saeed Naqvi as a journalist, writer and commentator, Prof. Ahmad highlighted Mr. Naqvis role in shaping up Centres of Excellence in Jamia such as AJK-Mass Communication Research Centre, Centre for Culture, Media & Governance and India Arab Cultural Centre.

TheCentre for Culture, Media & Governancehas been granted the status ofCentre for Potential with Excellence in Particular AreasonStrengthening Media & Communication Studies in Indiaby the University Grants Commission during XII Plan for the period for five years (2016-2021).

Prof. Ahmad said that the documentary provides rich insights into the field of cultural and institutional history of journalism. The students and researchers will benefit by such rich intellectual resources, he added.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyar, former Union Cabinet Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, recollected his association with Saeed Naqvi and his singular contribution to the world of media through his famous World Report based on interviews with eminent leading statesmen across the world.

The documentary is produced by Rajya Sabha TV. This event was held at the India International Centre, New Delhi last week.
