The Department of Electrical Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is going to organizeGIAN Courseon“Controlsfor RenewableEnergyand Microgridsfrom May 29 to June 03, 2016 which would be conducted byProf. Adel Nasiri, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA and Director of Power Electronics and Electric Motor Drives Laboratory of USA.

This course is designed to cover different aspects of GridControlofRenewable Energysources particularly Solar Photo voltaic and wind. India is trying its best to provide quality electrical power to all the citizens of the country. During past few years government has taken a lot of initiatives to provide power from clean and green sources of energyto make environment pollution free. It is the time of providing power fromrenewableenergysources. In India 14% of total installed capacity of 2,95,000 MWof power generationis fromrenewableenergy sources at present. Grid controlwith distributed sources of power generation is a challengingtask and a lot of research is currently happening in this area. Prof. Nasiri will be discussingtheoreticalaspects of thesechallengesand real time implementation of grid integration.

Prof. Adel Nasirishall be sharing his research findings and experience with the participants during his stay of one week on the campus. His research interests are renewable energy systems including wind and solar energy and energy storage. Prof Nasiri is also currently an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.

The GIAN Course shall be formally inaugurated onMay 30, 2016at10.00 AMat Faculty of Engineering Auditorium, JMI.
