(India) Leaders of different faiths welcome Hajis at Kolkata Airport


For the first time in India the Haj pilgrims were welcomed by people from different faiths.

Today morning when the flight from Jeddah carrying the Haj pilgrims arrived at the Kolkata International airport the Hajis were given a warm welcome by not just the people from the State Haj Committee but also 5 members from the All Faith Forum.

Along with Mr. Firhad Hakim, Minister for Urban Development, Mr.Nadimul Haque (MP and Chairman West Bengal State Haj Committe ) and Mr Ahmed Hasan Imran  (MP ), Dr Arunjyoti Bhikku ,Baljeet Singh Grewal , M.A. Ali ,  Moulana Meher Abbas Rizvi and Sheharyar Ali Mirza from the All faith forum were present at the airport.

“This gesture is  the first of its kind and will develop feelings of harmony between people of different faiths,”  said the Secretary of the forum M A Ali.

This is the first flight of the Hajis to land in India from Jeddah.
