Few of the districts where such primary schools are selected include Bareilly, Badaun, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Sambhal, Bijnor, Amroha, Rampur, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Sitapur, Unnao, Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi and Barabanki.

Dr A P Abdul Hakeem Azhari, member of the supreme council of SYS, has invited nearly 50 Muslim clerics from different districts of UP to attend a meeting in Kerala on May 27 to take a final decision about the commencement of classes at selected schools. We are beginning the first phase. Future road map for developing these schools will be held during the meeting, Azhari told The Indian Express.

Farhat Miyan, manager of Dada Miyan Mazar in Lucknow, who is one of the 50 clerics invited by the SYS, said he will be attending the meeting.

The schools being set up by SYS are being established keeping in mind the future expansion till Class XII on CBSE pattern. Teaching of modern subjects will be done in these schools, Farhat said.

He informed that in first phase, schools run by Muslim bodies will be taken up and renovated on new pattern. But getting its own land to set up new schools is very much on agenda and will be done soon, he added.

The organisation, which claims to have over 10 lakh active members, plans to set up nearly 100 such schools across UP and has already conducted surveys and shortlisted the land for same.

Presently, the SYS plans to establish these schools with donations but without government help. However, SYS

officials claimed that they will meet Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav soon.

They had earlier met Akhilesh in January and had also invited Uttar Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Azam Khan at their programme in Kozhikode.

SYS has already started a technical institute for girls in UPs Pilibhit district and a medical dispensary for poor in Shahjahanpur.
