 HADITHS ON FAZILAT OF SHAB-E-BARAAT

The 15th night of Shabaan is known as SHAB-e-BARAAT,which is next to Lailatul Qadir (27th night of Ramadaan) in auspiciousness. The Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)  is reported to have said: ”

People are not aware of the excellence of the month of Shabaan, the month that comes between the months of Rajab and Ramadaan. In this month, the action of the people are presented to Allahu ta’ala.I (Sallallaahu Alaihi Wasallam) wish my actions to be presented whilst I am fasting.”

As Shab-e-Bara’at is near and surely all the Muslims must be having different and humble feelings in their hearts! According to a Hadith, we come to know that this very Night, fate of ever living being is written!! Our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said:

Jibreel-e-Ameen (alaihis-salaam) came to me and said, this is the fifteenth night of Sha’ban, in this night Allah frees as many sinners from Hell as the hair of the goats of Bani Kalb. But he doesn’t have mercy on the polytheist, person bent on hatred, the drinker (drinking wine) and persons disobedient to parents.” [Shau’b al-Iman, Vol 3, Page 383, Hadith 3873]

There are narrations expounding the virtues of the night of mid-Sha‘ban one of which is related in theMusannaf of ‘Abd al-Razzaq from ibn ‘Umar that:

Indeed the supplication is not returned from five nights: the night of Jum‘ah, the night of the of ‘Id al-Adha, the night of the ‘Id al-Fitr, the first night of Rajab and the night of mid-Sha‘ban.

Sayyiduna Murra (radi Allahu anhu) narrates that The Holy Prophet  (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, ‘On the 15th of Sha’baan, Allahu ta’ala forgives everyone on the earth except the disbelievers and those who nourish malice in their hearts (against someone).(Almuntajar Araabih)

Abu Malik al-Janabi related  from Hadhrat ‘Aishah (radi Allahu anha)) who said:

‘I missed the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) one night so I went out to look for him [and found him] in al-Baqi‘ raising his hands to the sky supplicating. Then the Messenger of Allah  (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “ O daughter of Abu Bakr! What has brought you out here? “

Hadhrat Aisha (radi Allahu anha)  replied: “ I was anxious and feared you might have went out to [see] your other wives”.

He [sallallahu alaihi wasallam] then said:

Allah Glorious and Exalted descends to the nearest heaven on the night of mid-Sha‘ban and He forgives more people than the number of hairs on the hides of the sheep belonging to the tribes of Kalb.”

The Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam has said :

“O people, lighten and cleanse your bodies by way of fasting during Shabaan,so that is shall be easy and helpful to you for the fasting during Ramadaan.who so fasts three days during Shabaan, all his past sins are wiped off.”

So we must endeavour to fast for three day to include 15th Shabaan as one of the three days.

In order to observe the Night of Bara’ah, one should remain awakened in this night as much as he can. If someone has better opportunities, he should spend the whole night in worship and prayer. DUA NISF SHABAN (Translation)

O Allah! You shower favours on everyone
And no one can do You any favour.
O The Possessor of Majesty and Honour,
O The Distributor of bounty and rewards,
There is no one worthy of worship except You.
You help the fallen
And provide refuge to the refugees And give peace to those who are in fear.O Allah! If in the Mother of All Books that is with You
You have written me down as someone who is
Doubtful of achieving salvation, or deprived,
Or rejected or without enough sustenance,
Then, O Allah, with Your Grace
Remove all of these misfortunes from me
and in the Mother of All Books that is with You,
establish me as someone who is
blessed, with abundant provision and charitable good deeds.
Indeed, what You said in The Book You sent
Through the tongue of Your Blessed Prophet is true
That Allah changes and establishes what He wants
And with Him is the Mother of All Books.O My Lord! For the sake of Your Divine Manifestation
On this fifteenth night of the blessed month of Sha’ban
In which You issue all Wise and Irrevocable Decrees
Remove from us all calamities and hardships,
those that we know about as well as those that we don’t,
while You know everything.
Truly, You are the Most Powerful, Most Generous.

And may Allah the Exalted shower blessings and peace on
Sayyidina Muhammad, and on his family and his companions
And all praise is for Allah, Lord of the worlds.
