Is Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind struggling at Kashmir to survive?

or political observers, the popularity of Musa with the youth in the Valley reflects the changing realities of Kashmir. “That sort of thought was latent even before Burhan Wani,” said Anantnag columnist and religious scholar Altaf Hussain Nadvi. “Martyrdom for a militant until now meant sacrificing his life to make Kashmir part of Pakistan because of its Muslim character. A big number of young people are now questioning this claim. We are asking if, 70 years after its establishment, Pakistan could not become an Islamic state, why would we lay down their lives for this? What they are wondering is whether a jihad has religious legitimacy or not to liberate Kashmir and make it a part of Pakistan or an independent State.

Older players could be losing influence in the Kashmir dispute, Nadvi said, including Pakistan. “If you listen carefully, even the organizational leader of Hizbul Mujahideen, Riyaz Naikoo, has recently been critical of Pakistan in his audio and video messages,” he explained. “Even though he doesn’t openly do that, it can be gaged by anyone. Similarly, the Hurriyat and its policy have been vociferously criticized following the 2016 Burhan Wani uprising.

A leaked audio message allegedly featuring Naikoo circulated on social media in October. “On the diplomatic front only Pakistan can serve us,” he is heard saying. “But sadly the politicians there restricted the question of Kashmir to elections.”

Nadvi contended that geopolitical factors, such as the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan, would also influence the “sound” of militancy in Kashmir. “Isn’t America aware that Taliban will implement sharia law after its exit? The reality in Afghanistan is that America has lost, “he said. “The repercussions of the loss of a world power at daily militants’ hands won’t be limited to Afghanistan.”
