Jamia Millia Islamia becomes the 6th Top University of India in 2021

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) secured 6th rank among the ‘Top 10 Universities’ of the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2021 Rankings released by the Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today.

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) secured 6th rank among the ‘Top 10 Universities’ of the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2021 Rankings released by the Hon’ble Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today. JMI significantly improved its position from 10th last year in the NIRF. The Ministry of Education, Government of India had initiated ranking of higher educational institutions in the country in 2016.

Education For PeaceExpressing her delight over the improved performance of the university, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said, “ this achievement is all the more significant because of the challenging time the country and university has been facing due to Covid-19 pandemic and also in the light of increased competition in the ranking.”

She also said that this achievement was possible because of the relevant and focused research of highest quality and teaching by the dedicated and devoted faculty members of the university.

The Vice Chancellor also attributed the achievement to the improved perception about the university with regard to teaching, placements, research etc. and hoped to do better in the coming years.

JMI also improved its performance in the ‘overall category’ where it has been ranked 13th, improving from 16th last year. The IITs, IIMs, IISc and other top technical institutions and universities are included in overall category.
