Nourhan Moustafa: Our aim is to enhance the capabilities of youth to gain a deeper understanding of the international humanitarian law terminologies

Upon our belief in the leadership role of youth in the field of international humanitarian law; The International Humanitarian Law Unit of Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights Association, in cooperation with the Clinic of International Humanitarian Law at the University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), announces an opportunity for young people from Egypt and Brazil to enhance their research and academic skills in the field of international humanitarian law.

(Ayman Okeil) President of Maat for Peace affirmed that youth are the positive force for promoting democracy and achieving the goals of sustainable development, and from here young people must acquire the education and skills necessary to contribute to peacebuilding operations.

Okeil, also added that this project comes within a number of training projects that will be held by the association during the coming period and its purpose is to enable young people to use international humanitarian law to promote peace and security and also because of our belief in the role of civil society organizations in spreading awareness on international humanitarian law.

Nourhan Moustafa, Head of the International Humanitarian Law Unit at Maat, confirmed that the unit works to enhance the capabilities of young people to gain a deeper understanding about the various terms contained in international humanitarian law and about the various elements that are currently present within the areas of armed conflict and emphasize the national role in adhering to international agreements.

Hence the cooperation between the International Humanitarian Law Unit of Maat Association and the International Humanitarian Law Clinic at the University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) focuses on to enabling students to implement a research project based on comparative studies between the Brazilian and Arab realities, and it will be published in three languages: Portuguese, Arabic and English.
