e are concentrating on 20 “Heroes of Interreligious Dialogue” in 2020, individual agents of hope and change who have dedicated themselves to promoting peaceful coexistence around them in the world. From our partners and colleagues, via social media and word of mouth, we received hundreds of nominations. We were pleased by the challenge of selecting the final candidates and encouraged that there are so many individuals who have made a difference in their lives.

Young men and women of inspirational leadership who are committed to building safe, inclusive communities through interreligious dialogue and collaboration are the final heroes chosen for this book. They represent six religions and fourteen countries: Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. Their backgrounds are varied and their activities have an influence that is far reaching.

Through their tales, we see that no contribution to peace that is too small or too insignificant really exists. We help to foster a culture of peace and inclusivity, if any of us reaches out to the Other through displaying compassion, leading a community-wide movement, or helping to heal the wounds of deep conflict. We hope these stories inspire and empower you in your own community to become an advocate for peace.
