n July 27, Indian Pluralism Foundation organized a virtual webinar with experts who shared the rich and plethoric diverse Islamic principles and together we explored the spirit of pluralism and ethos of egalitarianism in Islam in comparison with the disturbing contemporary practices.

Islam is often misconstrued and viewed as an inherently violent and intolerant world religion. This misconception is fueled at times incorrectly part by the miscreant deeds of some Muslims, particularly toward those of other faith beliefs.

That discriminatory action and unfortunate conduct is then unfairly imputed to Islamic doctrine and coreligionists globally.

An individual Muslim’s action may not in fact be supported by informed readings of Islamic legal strictures, nor necessarily be representative of the over 2 billion Muslims in the world.

Suppression & subjugation, or violence against an individual or group based upon religious affiliation or no affiliation is fundamentally wrong no matter how one analyses it.

During this webinar we sought to break the myths stereotypes and stigmas around Islam as our panel of experts provided us insights into the teachings & traditions of Islam where egalitarianism and pluralism are the foundational aspects promoted by Islam to uphold peace, harmony and prosperity.
